Esthetics

Why Botulinum toxins for Esthetics?

Medical and dental esthetic services involve high-technology materials and technology. The use of advanced dentofacial esthetic technologies provides medically safe, non-invasive procedures designed to cause a significant cosmetic change or enhancement. These treatments are an addendum to other smile pleasing procedures offered at both the medical and dental office.

Both the young and baby-boomers demands for dentofacial esthetics services has increased significantly.   The speed, safety and esthetic predictability have made these non-invasive, non-surgical procedures more desirable, accessible and popular. Many of these safe medical and dental esthetics procedures can be performed without anesthesia, downtime, or significant discomfort.

The most popular cosmetic medical procedure is the use of Botulinum toxins like Botox. Botox is a muscle relaxant. Lines and wrinkles are most commonly caused by the muscles contracting under the skin. When that muscle does not contract, the dynamic motion that causes wrinkles in the skin will stop. The skin then starts to smooth out, and in approximately three to ten days after treatment, the skin above those muscles becomes nice and smooth. The effects of Botox last for approximately three to four months, at which time the patient needs re-treatment. Botox has been safely used for longer than 20 years in many patients without side-effects.

As with anything, it is important to know that your healthcare provide has proper dental, medical and facial aesthetics training and the experience to help you to realize all of the potential benefits of cosmetic enhancements such as Botoxcosmetic dentistry. Ask all the right questions to make certain that your provider has received the best dentofacial esthetics training and then expect the new you. (Chances are the best providers that you know were trained by a Dentox instructor.)

The International association of DentoFacial Esthetics (IADE) is the industry leader in providing the most updated and comprehensive medical esthetics training in all facial esthetic fields.
